I like how slow pace it is.
I like how slow pace it is. It is advisable to go during the weekend as more shops will be open. We went during the weekdays and didnt get to visit some places. The lake (向天湖) is a little overrated. It was very far up hill, dirty and has nothing much.

There are loads of hiking trails in the area with plenty of quiet river spots to enjoy. Hiking Jialishan, about a 5-6 hour hike, was a huge plus and would definitely recommend to any hikers out there. The town itself is pretty quiet, but has everything one needs. It has a very laid back feel to it with great roads for cruising on a scooter/motorcycle and has loads of camping places to enjoy with great views of the surrounding landscape.
